Humane Society Offers Reward to Catch Cat Torturers
The Humane Society is working with CrimeStoppers to find the individuals who tortured a cat to death. The cat was found dead in west Windsor on January 15 after a citizen reported witnessing two men repeatedly stab and kick a plastic bag in the early morning hours. An investigation and necropsy results determined that the cat had been stabbed repeatedly, and suffered 4 fractured ribs while still alive. The cat was about 3-4 years old, and she was a spayed and declawed female calico. No identification was found.
Animal abusers rarely stop with the first crime, and often move on to more serious crimes against people. This case is especially disturbing given the findings that the cat was likely alive throughout the attack and only died later as blood filled her chest. As a result, the Humane Society is offering to top up the usual CrimeStoppers reward by $500, providing an added incentive to anyone who may have information about this crime. CrimeStoppers tipsters remain completely anonymous, and receive cash for their tip.
Anyone with any information about this crime is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 519-258-8477, or the Humane Society at 519-966-5751.
This tragic incident should raise a red flag for owners who believe their cats are safe to the many dangers that lurk outside and, hopefully they'll consider keeping them inside... and keeping them safe. Still think your cat would be happier outdoors? Read this first (click here).
